High Level Disinfection of the Ultrasound Probe in Radiology
In this video we explain how to use the Trophon Machine to apply High Level Disinfection (HLD) to contaminated ultrasound probes. HDL refers to disinfection that kills all (with the exception of high level) bacterial spores. It should be used for any probe that comes into contact with bodily fluids, such as blood or vomitus. Low level disinfection (LLD) refers to disinfection that kills vegetative bacteria, as well as mycobacteria, viruses and most fungi, but does not kill bacteria spores. The Clinell green wipes are used for this purpose.
